finally! Big box of wax based pencils! I asked the seller directly because no one could tell me if these pens were wax or oil based. They answered me very quickly: these pencils are a bit harder than prisms. They mix and layer easily. So for about half the price of Prismacolor, you get a great everyday pencil case that's far less prone to breakage. I know I'll worry a lot less about this pencil set than more expensive brands. The color palette is wonderful. More pastels and browns than the Prismacolor pencils mentioned above. One of the unique things about these pens is that they are Pantone colors. For those who are not familiar with Pantone colors I will try to explain. Pantone is actually the official color language. If you asked someone, say, to make a shirt to sell to your company; You could tell them the shirts should be purple. It's almost like asking someone how many grains of rice are in a cup. There are hundreds of shades of purple. To solve this problem we have Pantone colors. The vast majority of Pantone colors don't have names, they're numbered. You can now ask the company to make all shirts in Pantone #2593. Now there is absolutely no doubt about the color you are talking about. I believe that in the whole box of 150 pencils only four or five are named. The rest is numbered. This is the unique quality of these pencils. Because these pencils are based on the Pantone system, they are numbered instead of named. Given a little time, you should have no problem identifying each color by its number rather than its name. For those of you who have trouble sharpening some of the softer pencil brands, Master brand pencils are the solution. They have a fantastic wide range of colors that are less prone to breakage. They appear highly pigmented and react wonderfully. Have fun with these pens. Keep in mind that they're a bit more complex than the Prisma, but otherwise they respond beautifully. These pens make an excellent gift for those who are just starting to use colored pencils as well as professional artists. Have a nice day and coloring! December 11, 2019 People don't believe these are actually artist pens. So I am attaching some photos I took with them. I hope this helps you try these pens. As you can imagine, the more I used these pens, the better my drawings got. Have a nice day!
