This is a very high quality tool that does the job perfectly. I'm new to swotting so I could be wrong about what a medium tool is. It's an extremely hard metal and the drill makes a huge rumble when not working with the material. I've tried dry lube and moly mist and it helped a little but not much. I wanted a 5/8" plunge cutter, even though a small drill bit can cut up to 5/8 in multiple passes, mostly because the reason I bought the plunge cutter was to make it easier. 5/8 allows me to make square dowels to hang things in one motion. I make gun racks out of exotic woods like ebony and zebra, and using a flat, smooth pole makes more sense and allows for better material utilization. Except also, I don't have a lathe, so here's the thing. The setting and depth of the inner attachment makes a big difference in how much effort it takes to use this, but it's a big attachment and you'd better have a leash in your pants to use them.
