I'll start with the obvious, mild at 2.8. Like many soft lenses at an open aperture. Which makes macro photography difficult without Speed Light+Light Distribution. Obviously it has a sharpness of 5.6, but I wouldn't shoot beyond f8 just because you definitely need more light. Don't get me wrong, this lens is amazing for what it can do on the road. Unless you plan to use it under controlled conditions. In this case it might be better to use an inverted prime number. The top image of the beverage can is the full image of the D850. The insect is a mosquito (roughly the size of a sesame) cut at 1:1 scale on a D3200. The first coin is also cut 1:1 D3200. Last coin with inverted D3200 35mm 1.8 and extension tubes. I just wanted to give some expectation equivalents. This lens is second to none in terms of speed and fewer gears in the field compared to the Super Macro setting. If you're expecting what you've searched on Google and seen these really sharp, full-depth-of-field shots, they're stacked on top of each other and require more patience and time to achieve. I wasn't expecting this, but it's definitely better than lugging around all that gear. Unfortunately, the only way to get those super macro shots is by carrying all that gear around or using it in a controlled environment. It can be difficult and frustrating, but the result is worth it. The same goes for Astro. For what this lens can do on its own, its price is lower. Amazing lens.
