While it can be hacked, the chances of mere mortals like us being hacked by a neighbor is pretty slim. So it's an old, slow, less secure router. but it still works. Google SMC7004AWBR for instructions. Although the return will cost a significant amount, I will cut my losses and send it back. Not because it doesn't work, but because I didn't do my homework before buying it. I want a newer solution.
