Pretty strong, constant use will wear them down

We use them on chairs in my art class. Steel pipes cut through the bottom of these cups and need to be replaced at least once a year. It doesn't help that I have a concrete floor with no carpet. Some of them will splinter on the sides and fall down as well. But given the conditions, it's better than scratching a painted floor.
