and discard the o-rings. This attitude is a bad idea. If the fittings are overtightened, the O-ring will pop out. If you tighten it properly, it will not be tight enough and will come loose easily. No wonder there are complaints about leaks. The barbed hose connector is pretty flimsy, but only one (and included) is needed on the inlet side. Don't overtighten or it may break. Pipe thread lubricant prevents leaks, but the fittings must also be sufficiently tight. At first I had a slow leak from the black hose but I tightened it a little and it stopped. Make sure you are using the correct oil formulation. The pump worked fine but I can see the red wire fraying where it attaches to the terminal. The pump ran faster than I expected. Both hoses are great. The inlet hose is reinforced with wire and made of transparent plastic. This was helpful as I could see if I was vacuuming up dirt. I pumped out of a 44" tank through a 2" hole. I needed the tubing to be straight, so I connected it to a 4 foot aluminum elbow. I didn't use an inlet filter because I needed to get to the bottom of the tanks. The exhaust hose is quite strong and therefore a bit stiff, but works well in cold temperatures. I really liked the outlet nozzle. You can control the flow and lever to block it. I hooked a bungee cord over the nozzle to keep it in the tank I was filling. After I configured everything, everything worked. I have moved it and used it in several places and there have been no new leaks. I am very glad that I bought the kit with hoses and nozzle.
