I'm not sure which variety is used, but the first thing that struck me when opening the box was the pleasant one smell of a wood block. It is unfinished, polished, smooth as glass and very attractive. It's also quite heavy with rubber feet so don't worry about it slipping while removing/inserting individual pieces of the set or scratching the counter. Everything fits perfectly into the corresponding slots. The packaging of all components is excellent. Each knife has a protective tip, then wrapped in cardboard and finally put in a plastic bag. Knife: Stainless steel from tip to handle, light but balanced to the touch. good grip.- 8 steak knives, which are also sufficient in company.- Large selection, for almost every imaginable kitchen task.- The most important thing is that these knives are sharp enough to shave with!Other: -The scissor halves are wedged in such a way that that they can be divided into two parts for easy cleaning. -Good quality steel sharpener with strong teeth. As for durability and sharpness, time will tell. However, considering all of the above, I expect them to last and perform well. While this product may seem a little pricey, consider the cost of stainless steel knives when purchased separately (not to mention the block, scissors, and sharpener). This is one of the nicest items I've ever ordered from Revain and you absolutely can't go wrong with this set for the money.
