I mainly use creative grid rulers, the markings are easy to read and they have a non-slip backing. This particular ruler is very useful for getting a square within a square block. There are two sizes: 6" ready-to-use quilt block and 3" ready-to-use quilt block. The unfinished size allows for a 1/4" seam allowance, so the unfinished sizes are 6", 1/2" and 3 1/2", respectively. The dimensions to be cut to add to the center square are too large so the square can be cut to the perfect size. Which I like, although some are concerned about the wasted fabric. For instructions on using the ruler, see the Creative Grids YouTube video. They also show you how to use the labels on the ruler to access the instructions at any time. I forgot what it's called. They also have an 8 inch ruler.
