Review on Kingston DataTraveler Micro 3.1 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive - Ultra-Small & High-Speed Silver Drive with Metal Case (DTMC3/64GB) by Omar Card

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very fast from USB 3.1 Kingston Flash to a computer with a USB 3.0/3.1 port

Very small, pull the lanyard through to avoid losing it and makes it easier install and remove. Formatted from FAT32 to NTSF. As a test, I first moved a 6.5GB file from my USB 3.0 computer (with 3.1 enabled in BIOS) to Kingston Micro USB 3.1, which took 7-8 minutes. Then transfer the same file from the Kingston USB 3.1 stick plugged into the USB 3.1 port, it took about 6 seconds. I bought a 16GB Micro to see if it's really worth buying a bigger one. On my old version of Vista x64, it typically takes 20-30 minutes to move a comparable file from a flash drive to a USB 2.0 computer. USB 3.0 reduced this time by more than half, Kingston Digital Micro reduced it to seconds compared to USB 3.1 Micro plugged into my USB 3.1 port. Long story short, in my case it appears to be a one-way benefit. The only benefit I see is moving files from a Kingston Digital 16GB DTMicro USB 3.1/3.0 plugged into my 3.1 port to a computer. Copying back to Kingston from 3.0 to 3.1 takes 7-8 minutes. USB 2.0 is even faster and still saves a lot of time when transferring large files like JPEG and RAW files from a USB stick camera to a computer. I'm so impressed I'll probably buy a larger Kingston as a few hours of photos will fill that 16GB in a hurry. Someday I will get a laptop with a USB 3.1 port and a memory card reader with a USB 3.1 port and a PCI card with a USB 3.1 port for my computer to get true 10x speed in both directions , which reduces transmission latency Data remains in the past.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Hard to remember, but it was
