Review on Tebery Umbrella Yarn Swift Hand-Operated Ball Winder Holder – Metal Hank Yarn Knitting Tool by Lori Aguirre

Not for people who have arthritis issues or similar unless.

Not for people with arthritis or similar, if you don't have space to leave it on the table all the time, you never have to switch from vertical to horizontal and have someone set it for the first time you ready. The table clamp part is fine, although some rubber padding to protect the table top would be nice. The problem is with the connecting clamp that holds the Swift to the table clamp. The swift's full round stem goes through a large irregular oval hole in the small head of the screw. Then the shaft should lie in the knocked-out grooves in the connecting part. and the wing nut must be very tight to hold the shaft securely. But then it's very difficult to loosen the wing nut to switch from upright to sideways or to detach the table and fold it as little as possible for storage. I've had to use pliers to get mine loose. And I haven't used it yet; only test work outside of the package. I understand why the other reviewer got confused and turned the wing nut the wrong way; and I'm pretty sure if I ever do that my screw head will break too. This is a design flaw as it is very likely given the unwieldy nature of the connector clamp. At a minimum, the screw head should be much larger and have more area around the hole, so that turning the wing nut in the wrong direction does not destroy the product. A complete overhaul of the connection will also work. The arms of the wing swing somewhat freely and if unbalanced they pinch the opening clip, making launching a bit difficult; but it works fine when all levers are centered. The rapid rotation is smooth and mostly silent. Plastic protectors take a slight swipe, but that's without a tangle. I suspect as soon as the rope is pulled over it, it stops. There is no handle at the top for wrapping strands around the swift, but I intend to add my own. In summary, this is a working Swift umbrella with quirks. This might work for those who can't afford more than $40 for a more expensive option (like me); or for those who want to dye their yarn on scissors but don't want to ruin their $40+ yarn; or for those who don't want to mess with making a PVC hardware store. they clamp the opening clip, which makes it a bit difficult to get in; but it works fine when all levers are centered.
