Review on πŸ“Ά Cradlepoint MBR1000: Maximize Network Connectivity and Performance by Paul Barnes

Help me, great support!

I bought the MBR1000 to use with a 3G MiFi to provide internet access to multiple devices in rural areas. MiFi can handle some of these things on its own, but it actually lacks Wi-Fi range and features like virtual server settings to support external access to multiple webcams. The first problem I had with MiFi was that I had to support webcams in two different buildings. These buildings were far enough apart that the MiFi didn't have enough range. The range of the MBR1000 proved to be much better than the MiFi, easily delivering a good WiFi signal in all required areas. Next came external access to my webcams. The MiFi was never intended to be used as a full-featured router, and this became apparent when trying to get my webcams to work externally. MBR1000 easily supports external access and provides adequate security. Then the support call came in. I contacted Cradlepoint support because initially I couldn't access my cameras remotely. Everything worked fine within the network. I emailed support with my configurations and asked them what I was missing. Support asked us to schedule a phone call to resolve the issue as my configuration appeared to be correct. It took a few contacts for the tech to remember the default security settings to change, but the tech was helpful, pleasant, and easily reachable for voice or email. I was really impressed. I have a problem: The MBR1000 is not compatible with DynDNS.org's free DNS services. The manual claims compatibility, but the tech says something has changed on the DynDNS.org side. I solved the problem by using another service instead. I would like Cradlepoint to fix this issue in an update.
