It's pretty easy to slide down the spine of the knife.

I have a set of forge stones that I sharpen most of my knives on (and it has its own angle) that moves a lot which makes sharpening a lot easier as it doesn't move makes the job a lot easier. With larger knives it's pretty easy to slide on the back of the knife, so no problem. If I ever need to replace it I will buy another one.
