Review on πŸ₯Š 2.0 Close Contact Professional Thai Cup by Kyle Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very effective protection.

I've been using Thai Cup 2.0 for 6 months now for Taekwondo and some Hapkido and BJJ. Application: I wear the cup over my Adidas sports boxer shorts during every workout. The panties can get tangled due to the elastic straps on the legs - a small annoyance. Additionally, the cup can put pressure on the lower abdomen during rotation and any stretch inclination, which can limit movement in that direction. However, the shell stays in place and, once I've gotten used to the pressure between my thighs when climbing stairs, doesn't interfere at all with the striking movements. I don't really notice it during kick exercises. The most important part of the review: It works! I got about six hits in the groin during practice and sparring. The force is well distributed through the shell to the extreme lower abdomen and the area around the groin. I know I've been hit and it usually takes some time to get over the effects of the blow, but there's no persistent referred pain. I find it very effective - a kick that's only slightly worse than a hard kick to the outside of the thigh, much less painful and debilitating than a clean shot to the solar plexus or exposed groin. Video provided by the manufacturer. The fit needed a little tweaking and I had to tighten the waist belt twice in 6 months of use. Leg loops have been set and forgotten so far. Movement disorders such as grinding can act as a deterrent. I'm 5ft 7in and 150lbs and it can really dig into my lower abdomen and put pressure on my bladder. With that in mind, make sure you're empty before you put it on. It's a bit difficult. Performing a pit stop when equipped. Finally, it can be a bit painful for grappling partners: it creates an uncomfortable pressure point during rear attachments, especially when you're digging into the hooks and stretching out with your legs and pushing your pelvis forward. And be careful. If you're doing crossbars with your arms while pulling between your legs, make sure you're pointing your partner's arm "south" under the cup, or you'll have a lot of leverage to do real damage. Rating: Very effective protection and the most comfortable protection I have ever tried. Yes, you know you're wearing it, but it's the most effective form of protection because you're wearing it instead of leaving it in your gear bag.
