I would ignore the fools who lie in their reviews because out of their own ignorance they say their heater is scrap and broken/cracked. I have 27 of these, yes 27, and I haven't had any problems with any of them in the last 4-6 years. The only reason any of them would burst, crack or break would be if the INSTRUCTIONS weren't followed and this heater was turned on when it wasn't submerged deep enough in water. I personally know a few people who forgot to turn off their heaters before doing regular water changes and broke them because the water level in their tanks dropped well below the heater leaving it exposed to the air causing the it overheated and broke almost instantly. I was about to do it myself. Either that or people will turn them on early as they fill up their tanks and before the water level reaches the SAFETY LINE which is clearly marked directly on the heater and they will eventually break. Barring operator errors and misunderstandings with clearly written instructions, it is virtually impossible for one of these heaters to fail when properly submerged (according to instructions) in water.
