I work with faux leather/vinyl and canvas more than leather for bag making and such rather than upholstery and do run into the occasional situation where it is preferable to hand stitch. This kit looked like it could be useful.The first thing that stood out to me is that it comes in a much nicer case than I expected and even if I didn't like anything else in the set, it is almost worth it just for the case. Nice molded, zippered case.Contents are basic, decent for a travel or starter kit. Some waxed thread, but mostly jeans weight/upholstery thread that is quite linty. I prefer smoother nylon threads and tend to work with brighter colors, but these are neutrals so I am sure I will find use for them. Awls were nicer than I was expecting but small handle so not for any type of prolonged work. Needles are sharps which is good for canvas, not the best for leather/vinyl. Good variety though. Tape measure/seam rippers are the standard ones you get with this type of set. Snips were nicer than I usually see in this type of set. They work ok as thread snips, not really good for any type of cutting, but they don't pinch my fingers.
