Review on πŸ”† SunFounder 37 Modules Sensor Kit V2.0 for Raspberry Pi: Complete with GPIO Extension Board and Jump Wires by Ashley Branch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent overall quality and adequate documentation, only 1 bug

I have to say I love this kit, it has everything you need to start with the basic programming and learn how the sensors can interact with the SBC. or microcontroller. The only thing to watch out for is the IDE cable that comes with it and its orientation when connected. As you can see in the picture, the cable only enters the T-Cobbler one way, and if you approach your Raspberry Pi with the alignment notch facing out, the GPIO pinout is rotated 180 degrees (the physical pin 1 becomes physical pin 40). . The little leaflet they provide shows the WRONG way of connecting the IDE cable to the T-shoe in the pictures. After reading old reviews/comments I realized that this is an old issue from 2015, an issue that has NOT been fixed as of October 2018. Make sure the center alignment on the SBC side of the GPIO is pointing to the SBC's BCM. You may need to reverse the IDE cable to do this. Otherwise it's a good kit, but I haven't had time to test all the modules it contains. I'll let you know if I find something that doesn't work. I would also suggest combining this with the ELEGOO Upgraded Electronics Fun Kit with Power Module for more versatility. This is the cheapest option I've found for the stuff it comes with.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
