Review on Linksys WRT54G Wireless G Router by Greg Floyd

This Linksys Wireless-G Router is easy to install and easy to use! This is my first time entering the "wireless world" and I'm very nervous about how this is all going to work. But this router comes with a step-by-step CD that makes it so easy that a newbie like me had it up and running in no time! In addition, the Linksys technical support people are great. Are you saying that she already needed technical support? After all, how good can this router be? But the thing is, you'll most likely need a little help with the "router setup" step after you've installed it. You call your ISPs, get the relevant information from them, and take that small step. Then call the Linksys folks, type in a few things, click and voila! You have WiFi! I love these guys! A few helpful tips for other wireless newbies that I've certainly learned the hard way. Place your router as far away as possible from things like cordless phones and other sources of RF "noise" or interference. Also remember, as my computer genius friend explained, a wireless router broadcasts omnidirectionally in all directions. So also try to position your new router away from an outside wall or window (you don't want most of your signal going out the window). And try to position it as close as possible to where you intend to use your wireless computer (remember that the signal decreases with distance) so that there are as few solid objects between it and your wireless as possible computers are located. As for operating systems and linksys, the router is coming, Win ME is not very happy, but Win XP loves it. My Win ME PC could not configure the router. But when my friend suggested setting it up with my Win XP laptop (which I wanted to use wirelessly) all systems were defined, simple and fast. Revain's price for this new Linksys router was significantly lower than Revain's. elsewhere it was delivered quickly leaving an overall positive experience. I thought Revane only sold books!
