What's left of us in the world of inferior art paper

Strathmore 500 Series Bristol Board was once an indispensable paper for illustration, particularly graphic storytelling, whether in ink, pencil or wet media. Around 2005 this changed. A horrible batch came out followed by a production method after it was acquired by a new company (Pacon Corporation) that changed the sizing glaze on the surface of the paper - that sizing was magic and now it's gone. what's left After a major blow to my way of working and switching materials (I usually work with most acrylics when it's been good for watercolours) to make up for this loss of surface quality, there's not much paper left. the place of the 500 series, and that's largely because all the other quality papers, from Crescent to Fabriano) were bought by companies that got rich selling cheap paper. After all, it's incomplete, but it's what's left to us. It's safe to say that the 500 series are the best of the worst.
