No Blue Lines: Arts, Paints & Crafts Supplies

FYI: This notebook is not pre-printed with blue comic lines. The pages are blank. Although the sides are very smooth.

Pros
  • 24 sheets in a notebook
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other sets

Disappointingly good for Bristol Paper & Vellum

I've always had very, very good results with this 500# Strathmore line for drawing comics, but last batch I did have ordered, spreads like SOB. It works great with Copic multiliners, but it bleeds and bleeds a bit with brush and ink, and is it a complete disaster with crow pen and ink? What happened to it, Strathmore? Are you lowering your standards?

Pros
  • Great for pen and ink tools, specialty pens, specialty markers and airbrushing
Cons
  • Long delivery time

The quality of Strathmore Bristol paper is beyond praise.

Strathmore Bristol paper quality is beyond praise. I ordered "PLATE BRISTOL" which is supposed to be smooth but almost as rough as a mix of parchment. I bought previous versions of the record and they were smooth. but quality control across the board. You should probably buy this from a store to personally check the quality of the paper. It's a shame because I used to rely solely on Strathmore. You may need to switch to Canson or another brand for consistency.

Pros
  • 2-ply board surface, acid free
Cons
  • unreliable

What's left of us in the world of inferior art paper

Strathmore 500 Series Bristol Board was once an indispensable paper for illustration, particularly graphic storytelling, whether in ink, pencil or wet media. Around 2005 this changed. A horrible batch came out followed by a production method after it was acquired by a new company (Pacon Corporation) that changed the sizing glaze on the surface of the paper - that sizing was magic and now it's gone. what's left After a major blow to my way of working and switching materials (I usually work with…
