Review on Imperial Cat Neat Heavy Litter by Kelly Martinez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good carpet, big! Suitable for toilet mats

There doesn't seem to be a perfect solution for litter picking. I've found the only solution is a large mat so the cat has to take a few steps on the mat after exiting the litter box to ensure most are caught. This mat is one of the largest so you can make a big "runway" for your cat to get rid of all the stuffing stuck in their paws. Most mats sold at Petsmart etc are only 1-2 feet wide and our cat either jumps over them or just takes a quick step onto the mat and doesn't catch all the dirt that gets into her paws. just a piece of brown (not green) carpet used outdoors. The brown hides any dirt particles, but they're still there, so I keep a cheap vacuum around and vacuum it every few days. But now the track debris stays in place (and mostly out of sight) and doesn't scatter across the ground like it used to. One thing I noticed is that the mat doesn't have a rubber backing. If the cat had urinated outside the box, it would have been soaked. That's not a problem for us (we keep the tray in a tiled bathroom), but it's something to consider if you plan to place it on a more delicate surface. I would put a sheet of plastic wrap or a thick layer of newspaper underneath. The carpet is quite thin and the density of the grass bristles is a bit low (the back is visible). But I think it makes cleaning/shaking/vacuuming easier so nothing can get stuck deep in the bristles. Didn't try to hose it down but looks like it should hold up just fine. However, it's quite thin and the back is a bit stiff, so its durability is a bit questionable (I wouldn't put it where people would walk on it regularly), but for the price you can't ask for more.
