The fact that they slide out is why I bought it. I hated dealing with the remnants of a strap from regular ratchet straps. The ratchet-free claim is a bit misleading because if you want them to be tight you have to snap them into place. And that's a little tricky because of the small handle... it's tricky to use the lever to really tighten the ratchet. It can be done, it just takes a little effort. I haven't had it long, so I can't comment on durability. So far, so good. The push button release is a nice feature too... as long as they work. As I said, so far so good, but time will tell. At the moment I recommend it.
