I've been using "traditional" ratchet straps ever since. forever and ever? But if I don't take the time to roll them up after using them (and who does that regularly?), they get tangled up in my tool tray. So I finally indulged in a pair of retractable straps. Now they're easy to find, easy to store, and easy to use. I can reach the button even with thick winter gloves. Will definitely be buying more of these to keep in my pickup.

The fact that they slide out is why I bought it. I hated dealing with the remnants of a strap from regular ratchet straps. The ratchet-free claim is a bit misleading because if you want them to be tight you have to snap them into place. And that's a little tricky because of the small handle... it's tricky to use the lever to really tighten the ratchet. It can be done, it just takes a little effort. They will fail immediately after the 30 day warranty expires. First, they are the most amazing things. Has worked flawlessly. After a dozen times or so, they don't automatically retreat.
