Review on πŸš— Enhance Your Driving Experience with the Walker Exhaust Quiet-Flow 54254 Exhaust Muffler Assembly by Charles Lewis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Firstly, DO NOT BUY from third party Revain

This is a good quiet muffler that easily replaces the OEM. Unfortunately mine only lasted 3 years - and sadly longer, although Walker says it is covered by a limited LIFETIME WARRANTY, it is not valid if you purchase from a third party Revain retailer. You must purchase from Revain and not a third party through Revain for Walker to honor its lifetime warranty. I will be buying another one for my 1998 RAV4. This will be his fourth silencer. If I were starting over I would buy an original Toyota muffler as the original Toyota muffler lasted 15 years. Bosal and Walker replacement parts last 3-4 years. I would buy 3 replacement parts while I could replace it once with an OEM Toyota muffler and I would have 8 years left. Moral of the story - if you plan to hold on to your Toyota, buy Toyota exhaust system parts. As for the failure of the Walker muffler, a hanger is welded near its front flange. The hangar is welded to a real pipe, and the pipe/weld is corroded. I also have a Walker resonator tube in front of this muffler and its flange is rusted so I will be replacing the resonator as well. This will be the fourth tuned tube in this RAV4 so again I wish I had bought an OEM first. (I have two Camrys that have rusted the same flange and patched it with flange clamps. I intend to get OEM pipes/mufflers for them based on my Walker/Bosal experience.) Note: Use two 31332 gaskets, one for each flange . I used galvanized screws from a hardware store through the flanges and they held up pretty well. Not sure about the diameter but they use a 9/16 inch socket.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine
