I've had the S1500 for a long time. It still worked, just outdated software. I bought an Epson network scanner for the office and it was very fast, but even though it was a new machine it had few features. I had to buy another scanner for my second office and read reviews of the iX1500. There was good and bad. It's not as fast as Epson, but it still scans fairly quickly. What I really like about this scanner is the receipt adapter. I scan my work receipts every day and it helps keep them in place while scanning. It's perfect? Not always, but usually it's because I'm trying to scan a crumpled receipt first. Otherwise it's great. My Second Perhaps the first favorite feature is the customizable scanning options. I often look at bills, insurance certificates, receipts, and a few other things. It takes so long to name the files exactly what I want when scanning. I'd rather scan and then have someone else review and rename them. Sometimes I just want to scan them into a folder for someone else to work on. Other times I have to work with them. I can create an invoice-only setting where the scanner automatically puts the file in a specific folder without me having to do anything other than click the button for that setting and then click scan. If I need to scan a lot of receipts, I can click this button and scan. The files are scanned according to my settings (single-sided/duplex, color/black and white, etc.) and placed in the folder specified in the settings. This way I don't have to constantly change the location of the scan. I can come back later and work on these files or my colleague. I have settings to scan bills into one folder, one duster for bail waivers, a third for checks, one for receipts, etc. It saves me so much time! I gave 4 stars for the following reasons: The output tray is short. It's not long enough to hold letter-size paper about 1 inch (2.5 cm), so folded pages sometimes eject from the output tray. It's smooth so receipts don't get stuck like my Epson. The other reason I gave it 4 stars is, because the settings for saving files are not as flexible as we would like. We name everything that starts with a code, like INV for invoices, RCPT for receipts, etc. I can change some settings, like with RCPT followed by company name and date. This will help later when renaming. There are very few options for naming files unless I use an option where I tell it the filename after each scan, which defeats the purpose of scanning straight to a folder with no naming step. I'm more focused on scan priority and like to think about names later when I'm out of the office or when someone else is busy. Otherwise it's a really good scanner. It could go faster but I don't think the lower scan speed really matters given all the other time-saving options. Setting up a custom menu takes a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's very easy to create a new one when needed.
