Not as sensitive as UK version

I had a GB continuity tester for many years before it finally broke. I bought this Neoteck tester because it's cheap and seems to be the same type of device. Pros: (1) Small flashlight included, convenient for working in hard-to-reach places. (2) It uses AAA batteries instead of button cells. (3) Easy to use. Cons: (1) It's not as sensitive as my GB tester - you can insert a small plastic tip directly into the neutral slot of a live 120V socket and the instrument WILL NOT beep. I found that pretty strange. A beep will sound if the tip is OUTSIDE the vessel or inserted into a hot slot. If you feel it around the switch plate, it doesn't beep. On the other hand, it finds wires through drywall, so that's probably good enough for most applications. You just need to know its features. (2) a little bulky compared to GB, but that's probably because it's designed for AAA batteries. The instruction manual contains funny Chinese "isms" and other errors in English spelling and usage. "Cell Replaceme" to replace the battery and "Electric Torque Lights Up When Electric Torque Switch (3) is Pressed". (It meant the word "torch" instead of "torque"). But you still won't read the instructions.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
