Review on ๐Ÿš— EPAUTO 255 PSI Tire Inflator with Digital Gauge, Hose, and Quick Connect Plug by Sean Perry

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It will work if you are diligent enough to fix its problems.

I bought this product because I needed a tire chuck, filler/emptier and digital gauge all in one unit and it was the only one I could find. It comes partially disassembled but is easy to assemble. Simply screw the flexible hose with a locking cartridge on one end into the valve port on the handle and screw the included air hose quick disconnect connector into the bottom of the handle. Do not overtighten as the handle is plastic and the threads will break if you overtighten. No over-tightening is required as there are O-rings to seal the ports. Insert the two supplied batteries and you're good to go. The left button turns the device on and off, and the right button selects the type of unit your pressure is displayed in. When you connect the cartridge to the pole, the backlight and display will turn on automatically, so you don't have to turn on the display with the button. When you let go of the handle, the tire pressure is shown on the display. Partial pressure on the handle allows you to deflate the tire when full, and full pressure on the handle allows you to inflate it. I found it easiest to inflate the tire slightly and then quickly press and release the button to get the desired pressure. Note that the gauge only has a resolution of 0.2psi. That is, you can set the pressure to 34.0, 34.2, 34.6, etc., but not 34.1, 34.3, 34.5. Now for the cons: 1) The handle wouldn't fully release because the top end was in the way of the valve body, so I had to carve a small notch in the handle to open it fully and not let air out of the tire. This required removing the C-clamp and pin holding the handle to the valve body, and sawing the handle until there was enough slack to completely loosen the handle. 2) All O-rings are leaking. I don't know if they were the wrong size or just cheap material, so I replaced them with new o-rings from my Harbor Freight o-ring kit and solved the problems. 3) The flexible hose is leaking where the swaged fitting connects to the 1/4 in. NPT fitting. I can't fix this so I guess I'll have to live with that unless the manufacturer offers to send a replacement part. 4) Retainer cartridge a bit difficult to repair. Some threads will leak or tend to fall off if too much lateral pressure is applied through the flexible hose. Had to fix my product just to make it do what it's supposed to do Only if I had a few more complaints would I give 2 stars and return the unit. With all these issues, I wouldn't call it "commercial" as they state. Better quality control would have avoided all of these issues at little or no cost and earned the device a 5 star rating.
