I purchased two 200w heaters for my 40 gallon turtle tank. The turtle bit off a piece of plastic from one of them (it had never bitten off pieces of other heaters before). The second heater burst leaving grains of sand/crushed shells all over the tank. I had to drain and clean the tank to get rid of all the sand. I removed the heaters. However, they heated the water well. It's difficult to circulate water around a 40 gallon tank, but I placed them on one side of the tank so the turtle can switch to the warmer side when it gets cold. With these two heaters, he almost always floated on the side of the tank. So Chief Otis approved! It was just difficult to warm up the entire tank, even with the water filter. I won't buy them again. They didn't last long enough for me.
