Review on TOLESA Cable Grommets Bi Metal Holesaw by Tim Beardsley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overview: Tolesa / bushing combination hole saw. Conclusion: The final cut was good, but only an average pdt recommendation.

I received this hole saw and washer set while building a LARGE desk for my home office. I have a long socket in the back and want to hide as many wires/cables as possible. There will be 2 computers, printers, scanners, monitors, headset mounts, routers, maybe more. The kit comes without instructions. It's fairly easy to figure out how to set it up (screw the cutter onto the spindle, insert locks into the holes and tighten the spindle screw), but the cutting process wasn't without its problems. can cleanly cut a hole without slipping on the painted wood surface. If the cut itself isn't perfectly clean, at least to see if the bushings hide any imperfections in the cut itself. It took some effort to get through the plywood (see photos) but the cut came out clean (see fig 2). One problem was that the locking mechanism didn't squeeze tight and the threads worked themselves out as the head rotated across the wood. As a result, the cutter did not fit the spindle snugly, and the entire spindle fell out of the drill. I tried dressing again and it helped some, but I had a problem a couple of times trying to make a cut. After cutting, I also had to remove the power drill to remove the connector; There was no easier way to get it. The photos above were a test cut of plywood. The cut was very clean and the knife didn't slip at all. The bushings fit neatly and perfectly into the hole and fit snugly against the shoulder of the hole. In general, it went perfectly, although as we said, there were some problems. I rate this as an average recommendation. The tool did its job neatly and perfectly, but it took a bit more time and patience than I expected. If you're after a drill this will work, but practice on scraps first.
