Comparing Forerunner 45s and Vivoactive 4s for basic activity tracking

Me I was looking for an activity tracking watch that had a round face, was always in view, and didn't look disproportionately large on my wrist. I'm only interested in basic step tracking, sleep tracking, heart rate, and being able to see some notifications from my phone. Both the Forerunner 45 and the Vivoactive 4 seemed to fit that criteria, so I tried comparing the two. Pros: The Forerunner is significantly thinner and lighter than the Vivoactive, and it's also a bit cheaper. From my point of view, this is the biggest advantage over Vivoactive.screen. You have to use the buttons to switch to different screens on the watch. At first I thought it would be annoying, but once I got used to it, I realized that the good thing about it is that the dial doesn't get as messy since you never have to swipe it with your finger. The photo shows that my Vivoactive already has some hard-to-remove smudges that make the dial difficult to read when the backlight is off. Cons: Unlike the Vivoactive, the Forerunner doesn't use standard straps, so you can't change them to a different color or material. Forerunner watches have the Garmin logo and button labels surrounding the screen. I like the minimalist look of the Vivoactive better. Fewer compatible watch faces are available for Forerunner than for Vivoactive. The screen resolution is smaller than that of Vivoactive. The difference is noticeable with things like text notifications. On Forerunner I almost always have to scroll to read the entire message.
