This review is for a 'roughly' rated model, but this is in line with the German-Swiss agreement, so it's actually that bit thinner than the second file - definitely doesn't sound like the coarseness of a bastard file. It's an improvement over the best big box and hardware store brands because it's a bit sharper and lasts much longer, but to take advantage of the improved performance and lifespan over cheaper files, be sure to clean the file with a card and brush after each use and keep them separate from your other files in a box so they don't touch each other and wear down your teeth.
