It took me a while but I finally got this siphon working. I had no experience with this before, so figuring it out wasn't easy. With that said, I'll give advice to anyone who needs anything. If your water is not flowing as directed, try the following: Insert the cleaner into the aquarium with the valves slightly open and the valves pointing upwards. Next, turn on the faucet. When the water reaches the top of the fish tank, quickly raise the vacuum cleaner out of the water until it is level with the top of the fish tank, then quickly submerge the vacuum cleaner back in. Water should flow out of your aquarium. I hope this helps someone else who may be having trouble getting this siphon to work. I don't know if it's just this one or all of them, but it's worth remembering. Otherwise it works great. The suction is enough to pick up food and waste, but not strong enough to pick up sand. Filling my aquarium just got a thousand times easier.
