I have been using CenturyLink DSL for years and because they required filters on all phone jacks my old (perfectly working) Westell modem was plugged into the filtered jack. Since my old router that connected to this modem died and we couldn't connect a popular brand new router, we decided to buy the C1100Z. I made a double guess when reading the modem review on the CL Support Center and realizing that the C1100Z should NOT use a filtered outlet as it has a built in filter. A read that saved me a great deal of grief, I'm sure. Times have certainly changed as the installation process was smooth and quick. The best thing is that it is much faster compared to my old C1100Z modem. It's great to be wireless again and I hope this great achievement continues.
