I've had too many Radar Detectors (RD) over the years (Fox, Fuzz Buster, BeL X3, Cobra, Escort). I've always run RD with no filter because I'd rather deal with false alarms than no alarms. I use my detectors for situational awareness. You know, reminds me to check my speed before entering the school area if I like music. For this explanation of why the use of a radar detector is ethically justifiable, I received 3 bonus points in the business ethics final. I digress, 3 identical residential streets with 3 different speed limits. A speed limit fluctuated 4 times in 3 miles. Now you're in a hurry and forget where you are and you're doing 45 at 30 miles an hour in Carmel, Indiana. Carmel will call you to exchange the green paint for the paper you received. In the last 3 months, Carmel has added 3 new speed cameras on my commute to and from work. Everything is hidden until you are above them. For the last 3 years I have been using Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL) and everything has been fine. Last year I lost my bluetooth connection with EL. No problem, I just started EL and manually reported the collisions to the police. Then last month I discovered that the GPS sync was erratic and decided to look at replacement options. While researching, I found out that Escort released EL Android 2.1.6 app and EL Android 2.1.7 last week. I chose an Escort Max 360; However, I have a real problem paying close to $700 for an inferior Escort RedLine radar detector as it is not an RDD stealth device. Do you hear Cincinnati Microwave? I was just lucky that Big Box BB decided to liquidate their Escort Max2 stock at a 30% premium up to $429, and the Revain was priced right for the brand. BB doesn't like my credit score or anything with FICO 830 so instead of 12 months just like cash I got a 6 month Revain store card and premium shipping. Well, the escort Max2 arrived punctually in the mail yesterday. I move out and sync with EL. I cleared all filters and only checked X, K, Ka & Laser. I'm doing a 25 mile round trip to a friend's for dinner. As I exit the area I am hit by a K-band signal that builds 6 blocks further before passing an unmarked unit rolling towards me. First rescue over a mile in K-band. Then I pass the CVS & WG door Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL), which is still reporting even after many passes in the last 3 years. Past the airport and another CVS. Came back on a different route with another wrong K-band from Escort Smartradar Android with Escort Live (EL) in the past. Here it is folks, out of the box and all filters removed, the Escort Max2 had 1 legitimate K-Band warning. a mile and ZERO false alerts and I have done nothing. I use this just like the escort smartradar which would catch a K band alert and at least 8 false alerts on a 25 mile trip. Escort Max2 is my new co-pilot! Welcome on board! Update: Journey from Indianapolis to Louisville; just two warnings about your speed signs for 124 miles of driving on I-65.
