I have a German city bike that I bought abroad 15 years ago that has a hub alternator, but the built-in halogen bulb never seemed bright enough. It draws just under 3 watts and while it's significantly heavier than the plastic it replaced, it has a nice powerful beam and the reflector design directs the light where you need it. It flickers a bit at the lowest speeds, but stabilizes once you slow down from walking pace. The hardware appears to be rust free. Good light when weight is not an issue, as in my case. The wiring harness is connected, which means it will likely only work with systems from that manufacturer. I cut them off and just solder and shrink the connections.
