Easy to assemble and install, about the same in rating. I mean the whole build/install process took just over an hour. In doing so, I made several mistakes. It is not easy. It's not 1,2,3. It's more like "Damn, oh, okay, I get it this time." GMC WARNING: The crossbars (that's what you're going to attach these racks to) on my GMC are flexible and slightly curved. These kayak holders will fit this type of GMC pole BUT they will not mount/sit perfectly straight. I didn't seem to have any problems carrying the kayaks. Only my perfectionist friend's eyes hurt. You have room to tighten the front more than the back if you want to try to align them as best as possible. Okay, here's my warning: DO NOT drive on the freeway with your crossbars bent and bent. It's possible to cruise around town at slower speeds, but with wind ratio + vehicle speed, you'll quickly discover that kayaks act like sails on the roof of your car, meaning they catch LOTS of wind. Like I said, those bars on the GMC are flexible. That kink allows for some serious movement there if you move. When you drive fast, that traffic picks up speed and before you know it, you're snagging the baddies right there. Have you ever seen your kayak flip over in the rearview mirror? The GMC Flex Bars just aren't designed for that kind of load. I used to load a kayak right on top of it and tie it down. NO problems for many years. but when they sit like that, it's a new game. Stay away from freeways. I could get about 55 mph riding WITH THE WIND, but would I be riding upwind or crosswind? I couldn't get more than 40/45 without common sense telling me to relax. YOU NEED a strong pole(s). My solution was to buy a set of stronger/harder/inflexible bars. This is my GMC warning. Replace the crossbars or leave them in place and at speeds below 80 km/h. Don't do what I did. This product is inexpensive. That's why you're here. Correctly? Now that's great value. It really is like that. I can attest. BUT the straps that come with the kit are very cheap. I had my girlfriend buckle my side and she put the belt back on which caused the belt to loosen as we drove instead of holding me down. At first I didn't understand why the strap was so loose. I should have seriously thought about it lol. What I do now (this is going to sound confusing until you have that stand on your hood) After threading the strap through the stand I am left with two equal ends. once with a buckle, once without. I threaded both sides of the strap over the kayak and then passed the end of the buckle (very important) under the rack loop and pulled it back up into the sky. Then I slide the other side of the strap into the buckle so that when I pull the strap UP the buckle tightens further. (sounds confusing? It's my fault. You'll see it's not so bad if you do it once or twice). he has an oblique bite. Very cheap. I didn't like it at first, but now that I understand it, it's okay. My advice: if you're as uncomfortable with them as I am, ditch them and buy ratchet straps for added confidence. Nobody likes to drive and be nervous at the same time, right? I'm not saying these belts don't work because they do. So look carefully at the image that is shown to you in the guide and try to use what I am saying to help you understand it. or buy ratchet straps. You want the bottom of your crossbars to have 3 or 4 fingers of space between themselves and your roof. I say that because each strut has one more screw than the others. (Main bolt) This bolt may be too long and you can't add 2 nuts that tighten the bolt and then secure it. (they are larger than usual) I had to get creative and put the nut on the roof myself and then screw the bolt to bite the nut first. Pretty difficult when standing on a tyre. Yes, I think that's all I wanted to say. I didn't see anything about it in any reviews so thought I'd mention it. My final conclusion: you are great! All you need is the right crossbars, spacing and maybe some ratchet straps if you don't trust the straps provided! Happy yaking boys!
