Trying to install as cleanly as possible. I originally bought a mount that connected to the hitch receiver. Then I realized that the installers who hooked up my 7-way connector didn't leave enough slack to get to the hitch receiver. I didn't want the mounting plates sticking out and the wires dangling and catching on something. I came across this cover bracket that can be cut to fit a round hitch. There is a cutout in the plastic. First I circled it with a marker to make it easier to see. The only minor issue was that the pre-drilled "universal" holes for the 7-pin connector didn't match my connector. Only 1 hole fit, I drilled the other 3.
