I would avoid these without hesitation. I purchased four of them a while back, not from here, but from another source but no matter as they are all originate from China and are resold by various firms. There are also at least two circuits under the cover: the unit with the amber plastic cover over the screws has a different internal circuit than the unit that does not have the cover. At first, I thought the different circuits were an issue as one dimmer was running way hotter than the other, but it didn't matter. Out of the four i purchased, two smoked and burned out. I was only using loads of around 12 volts and 10 amps or less too. The smoke made a mess inside as the smell was almost like burning plastic, no good to breathe this in, and had to use exit fans on full for a couple of hours to get the smell out of the house. As I said, one dimmer was already running hot within 5 minutes of use, but the other was not, so I was really surprised when that one burned up without warning! I was close by in each case, but still not quick enough to prevent the horrible smoke smell. Since these are devices that obviously seem to burn up without warning, they cannot be trusted. Avoid!
