We bought 2 of these adapters to use our high speed wireless internet. Our laptops are a few years old and only had 2.4GHz radios. Therefore, we only got speeds up to 50Mbps. Plug these USB receivers into a Hi-Speed USB port and connect them to a 5.0GHz 112Mbps network. Make sure you plug them into the Hi-Speed USB port (blue) of your computer. I ran a download test and my laptop downloaded a 512GB file in 29 seconds through the blue USB port, and the same file took 46 seconds through a regular USB port. Both ports tested at 112Mbps with Speedtest.net, but regular USB is 50% slower than high speed. Turn off the built-in Wi-Fi and use the drop-down menu to connect Wi-Fi #2 to the network. Windows 10 didn't install automatically on the second laptop and I had to use the CD. But even that was easy. This laptop is called Wi-Fi Adapter #4 so I think this laptop might be confused! But both took 5 minutes to connect to the network.
