Review on Stylish Protection: Pearl Izumi Women' Select Barrier Jacket - The Perfect Blend of Fashion and Function by Shane Schobinger

I have bought three different wind or waterproof running jackets and they all got great reviews. Each has their own unique attributes, but this is my favorite. This is the only model with a soft, absorbent fabric lining in the collar, while the other two are upper-only. I also prefer the fitted style of this jacket. The fabric feels high quality. Below are some examples of how I use it. When I warm up I tie it around my waist. I find it unobtrusive (although I've learned to tuck the knotted ends of my sleeves up to my waist to keep them from twisting as I run). Used it on a long walk yesterday and came back from the library with an audio book and DVD in my back pocket - a good description of the size of the bag. I warmed up and took it off, but due to the weight in my bag, instead of tying it around my waist, I tied the sleeves and slung it diagonally over my shoulder like a crossbody bag and it worked great! I didn't move, the weight in my pocket was barely noticeable, and I had good ventilation with the jacket draped over it like this. it's cold outside, the inside of the jacket stays damp and I'm not wearing a long-sleeved, moisture-wicking shirt, it gets cold under my armpits. However, wearing a sweat-wicking long-sleeved shirt on cool days, or removing the jacket when it gets warmer, solves this problem. Overall I would definitely recommend this jacket.
