Review on meross Smart Garage Door Opener: Apple πŸšͺ HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant Compatible, No Hub Required by Chris Cruz

Another home run from Meross! Best smart garage door opener with HomeKit I've ever used!

Disclaimer: I gave this device for free, but this opinion is 100% my own. Meross made no conditions. I have a garage door opener - Genie - model 2028 [see fig. NS-CH1XGO8) which was the only HomeKit enabled device available at the time. The installation of the Meross MSG100HK was almost identical to that of the Insignia unit, with the exception of the sensor cable (detailed below and in the images). into a socket on the ceiling [cf. rice. 2]. The sensor cable must be secured with the screws provided [see Fig. Reis. 3, 4, 5 and 6]. Some people have routed cords across the ceiling, I routed mine along the edge of the track using 3M Command Clear Cord Clips. The other part of the sensor needs to be installed on the garage door itself. I chose heavy duty 3M double sided tape; The sensor hasn't moved since I installed it [see image]. Rice. 7]. The final install looks pretty neat; You can't say for sure anything has changed unless you know what you're looking for [see rice. eight]. I currently live in a rented townhouse and plan on taking the Meross controller with me if I move, so the installation is completely reversible. garage door status to update after opening the HomeKit app; I received (more than I would like) the dreaded "No Answer" message, which can be confusing when I'm not at home or trying to let someone in. I'm happy to report that I haven't seen this message once since installing the Meross MSG100HK (except when my internet connection actually goes down/restarts). I believe the Meross device has the best reliability due to the sensor cable that needs to be connected to the smart controller itself. The Insignia uses a wireless door sensor with a coin cell battery that needs to be replaced several times a year, which can cause connectivity issues when the battery is low. With the Meross MSG100HK you don't have to worry about batteries. Finally, it's nice that the device comes with an app - the Insignia controller didn't have its own app. The app can send you "overtime/night" reminders if the door is left open too long (you can set the duration). Overall, from customization to functionality to reliability, I would rate this a 5/5. I was so happy with this device that I recently ordered a new Meross Collie: Smart Garage Door Opener Controller through their Indiegogo campaign. Collie supports three garage doors on one Smart Controller; I only have one door and am planning to give a collie as a gift. Keep it up Meross! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
