. I painted the Mod Podge 3 coats, cured for 28 days and then washed everything in the dishwasher. Not perfect! The areas where the MP was thin were good, even bulletproof, but where did I paint it thick? Apparently it hadn't hardened enough because it reabsorbed the water and turned white and milky again. (See first photo.) LESSON 1: Paint this material THIN, and if you paint it thick, take advantage of the extra drying time. 28 days might not be enough! I left the jars open for another 28 days to re-cure and then washed the test jar. Thick spots are milky AGAIN, but not as severe as before. At this point I said "the hell with everything" and put the jars in the oven to try to heat cure them. 350 degrees for 30 minutes (although there is a video where the "Queen of Decoupage" does it at 175 degrees for an hour instead), place the jars in the oven before turning on, then allow the oven to cool completely before it is opened . I put all the glasses in the dishwasher and voila! Mod Podge stays clean and dry! (See second photo.) LESSON #2: Yes, under certain circumstances you can cure dishwasher safe Podge material! I have applied paint to clear glassware; I'm sure if I covered something like paper the oven would set it on fire. I also let the jars dry before heat curing. I don't know if this will work for your project, but probably the best you can do is create a test element that you can bake so you don't risk your main element.
