Shame on Bosch, all I can say. He drilled through the mortar portion decently enough. Luckily my center was through, I did 2 more from the inside, again through the mortar. Walked outside, caught a hole through a real brick. The first hole was definitely tricky as it wasn't a mortar hole. Started on the 2nd hole, maxed out at 1/2 inch and I started seeing the tip turning red or sparking, whatever you want to call it. Yes, I didn't want to go any further. I went on to try the 3rd, utterly useless, I was able to slow down the puncher and tried making small starter nipples for the rest. They said it takes another 16-18 to get the chisel to the brick and break it out. I had to find some masonry pieces I had, like 2-3. Now I don't. I melted the tips for both. I have 1 1/2 more full holes. I decided that I should just start pounding. I went in and hollowed out a smaller brick to break the brick so that when I got out I might have saved face. It worked. I went back and finally made a hole. 45 minutes of hard work. The bit was new, I had to pry open the holder to get it out of the Bosch packaging. So I know it was a new Bosch 3/8 8 inch. It even says SDS Bulldog Plus on the box. But it can never be used properly again. Not even sure it will only work on one solution? Tip I now looks like a drill without the tip wing. So if you plan to use concrete or mortar, buy it and hope to complete the project. If, like me, you're going through a brick to install a dryer vent, your best bet is to have scrap mortar to rip off as well as a Bosch. Again, I'm disappointed with the Bosch product and its ability to go through bricks. As much as I love to take photos. I spent almost 4 hours on this project, stopping to take photos and getting annoyed I didn't think. I was trying to avoid 5 trips to the house store and the mess.
