With the right hit, the thing works well.

I had to drill 38 holes to install a pool fence. I first tried this with a consumer grade rock drill bit and it took all day to drill about 4 inches of very hard concrete. I could smell burning insulation and the bit kept slipping in the cartridge. I wasn't happy with the bat. I borrowed a more powerful rock drill and doubled the speed to two a day. There was no burning, but there was still a little slip problem. Since renting a rock drill bit is expensive and I figured it would take a few…

Don't do what I did! Please read this

This is a GREAT drill bit if it fits your hammer drill. Sorry for the 1 star but I had to get your attention. I had no idea they made two different sized SDS bits. Yes, I live in a cave. I've always had a larger SDS they call Max. This drill is called the SDS Plus, which I think is a DUMB word for a smaller drill. Let's be honest. If your significant other is plus size, then they are large. This is how the word "plus" is used nowadays. Yes, I have read the description and looked at the…

Pros
  • Bosch's patented hardening process results in more holes per drill bit
Cons
  • I'll write back later

It starts well. Fragility! (stone/mortar drier installed)

Shame on Bosch, all I can say. He drilled through the mortar portion decently enough. Luckily my center was through, I did 2 more from the inside, again through the mortar. Walked outside, caught a hole through a real brick. The first hole was definitely tricky as it wasn't a mortar hole. Started on the 2nd hole, maxed out at 1/2 inch and I started seeing the tip turning red or sparking, whatever you want to call it. Yes, I didn't want to go any further. I went on to try the 3rd, utterly…
