Review on Surco TF100 Tire Carrier Ford by Tiger Carpani

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was hesitant at first, but I was impressed and delighted.

I was hesitant to buy it for my 1986 E-350 Club Wagon Econoline after reading some reviews as most described it as cheaply made. Although I have to say for the price I would disagree. My van once had a spare wheel carrier and some of the holes didn't line up. It would be difficult to find existing holes as I'm sure many companies made them in their day. Installation was pretty easy, although I did add a couple of washers. I was able to use one of the already existing holes on the right mounting tab and the left side tabs just slipped over and pressed against the door hinges, eliminating the need for holes for them. My van has 8 studs (all Ford, Chevy and Dodge 8 vans have the same bolt pattern) and it has worked on my wheels. I had to mount the front of the wheel first to clear it and I use 235/85R16 31.7" tires and that would be the largest diameter you can clear as the passenger door is straight at about 3/16". becomes free. My tire and wheel combo probably weighs around 70 pounds and this holder seems to be holding it very well and feels stronger than I expected. The tire is set quite high and covers the rear window a little. If you have any questions please visit the company's website http://www.surcoinc.com/index.html, I have contacted them several times with questions and they have responded fairly quickly.
