I tied this lantern to the railing of my patio with a rope and I love it. They add the perfect amount of soft light in the evening to walk around and start a fire. I use the light when lighting the grill and cooking food, although if I'm cooking chicken you may need a brighter light to check doneness. When it snows, they also look very cute. 100 feet was the perfect amount for the three sides of my railing deck. There is no light from the side of the house. I have saved the coil for when I want to take them with me in the winter but the snow hasn't bothered them yet and when I turn them on under the snow they are really cute.
