If you have an old boat, you probably need to fix it. The two sealed bearings are probably defective.

Designed for crank belt or belt driven seawater pumps on most direct and V drive marine engines. I have an OEM Indmar 320LCR on a 2008 Malibu V-Drive boat. My cap says "Indmar" part number, but it's a Johnson pump. My OEM raw water pump seemed fine, but since I had it removed I decided to rebuild it with this kit. Most people just replace the rubber impeller, but be careful, you may have to rebuild the pump with this kit because both of your bearings are rough or rusty. The kit includes everything shown in the promotional photo, but also in the new kit there is a thin copper plate which is not in the promotional photo. My pump requires this thrust washer. I removed the impeller from the shaft with needle nose pliers. Measure the distance from the base of the shaft to the bottom of the pump housing with a vernier caliper or other accurate measuring tool. I had a 7/8 inch gap. I borrowed a small 2/3 grip puller from an auto parts store to pry the pump shaft out of the back of the pump housing.
