Not just for chemists

I use this powerful little vortex to remix everything in a tiny bottle: paint, ink, nail polish, liquid watercolor. It shakes up the settled pigment, but creates fewer bubbles than a shaker. Mini Swivel feels and looks like a quality tool. Other paint/polish shakers seemed useless to me and would take up too much precious desk space. The mini swirl measures 4 inches wide and 3 inches high. It's deceptively heavy and stable for its compact size. Of course, most bottles aren't the size of test tubes, but simply push the bottom edge toward the center to turn on the motor and hold it there for about 15 seconds. It does a great job. I also bought some stainless steel ball bearings (link follows) to make the job even more efficient. Does it do as good a job as these color mixing tools? Probably not, but I have yet to find one that is affordable without numerous complaints that they no longer work. I'm assuming that all that shaking will surely shake the engine? I've been using this Vortex for about six months with no problems.

Pros
  • Modern design makes it easy to start with one hand and stop shaking when you lift the tube
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
