Review on BeaverCraft Carving Chisel Carbon Handle by Kristen Simpson

It's instantly sharp and handy

Haven't done this in a while, I'm by no means a pro but I've had some magical results with this tool. You can see a few other things I made with this tool in the photos I posted, but I posted 2 pictures of one of the projects because I made this one out of a 2" x 6" piece of basswood made by using ONLY this furrow it was great experience. I've been to several wood workshops and I have to admit that I don't think their prices are welcome for "newbies". Dropping $30 to $40 for ONE tool is kind of a jump I don't want to see to see if I like something. But Beavercraft has a better entry-level tool than what I could find locally for a REASONABLE price. If you are looking for something to help you turn spoon making into a hobby. it is most likely this rot. My spoon making game grew a lot when I started using it just because of the convenience and ease of use. I've tried other curved notches that look like a hook, I don't even know what they're called, but these things quickly lead to problems if the size of the tree you have and the notch you want to make don't match do not match. The tool begins to catch on the edges, causing more damage than work. With a Beavercraft chisel you have a lot more working angles which I think is a lot more important because wood can be expensive and bigger pieces = more money. bought some 2x4 wood and was able to do some of the things you see in the background in the second photo.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price
