Review on Brady BMP21-PLUS Handheld Label Printer: Rubber Bumpers, Multi-Line Print, 6-40pt Font by Jose Pacyga

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Like all label printers it uses a lot of ribbon

I really like the label printer, I have to label many different items like patch panels, cables, sockets etc. The printer does this excellently and has many features. I wish the menu was a little less confusing, but I think that's how it should be with all the different features. I have two main complaints, the first is that like all the others I've used, this printer uses a lot of ribbon. By default they have large margins, and even reducing the margin to the smallest possible value still wastes a lot of tape. Second, the tape cartridges don't last. I only used one fully before it broke. The last one I received I didn't use immediately and didn't realize it was broken until I had to use the tag that said it was that size. I bought 4 different labels and all but one had broken or loose springs (inside the cartridge) or something that was causing it to not print or suddenly stop printing. These cartridges are not cheap like some Brother or Dymo. Because of these cartridges, one would expect them to stand up better. There may be an issue with Revain's shipping, these are not the only items that arrive damaged. A good printer if you don't mind using twice as much ribbon as the characters need and can get a cartridge that will work after a few labels.
