When I first received this needle set, I opened the hard plastic "book" that contains the needles. I realize that a plastic case will not last long without special care. very long. It's made of plastic and the older it gets, the more fragile it becomes. Anyway, for $50, I'm not complaining about the case. You can buy a cloth case to store all your needles and parts in - it's advertised on the tiny insert inside the needle case. There are actually no instructions on how to use this set when you receive them. All there is is a promotional track with a section that includes instructions on how to connect the string to the needles. Not that this required a rocket scientist, but I was dying to get a quick start guide detailing all the possible uses of needles. I was very excited to see all the needles I received in this set. I immediately set to work on the beret, which I had been looking for in my pattern books for a long time but could not make because I had no needles. The beret turned out beautifully and I fell in love with these pins. My yarn slides easily over the cord and knitting needle, the twists seem to fly, and you can easily change the length of the cord and the size of the knitting needles. Going from a size 6 to a size 8 was easy and I was able to remove the pins, attach a connector to my cord and try the hat on before it was done. It was for a hat - not sure I'd want to use these pins instead of my straight metal pins, but if I had to I'm sure I could adapt. I was concerned about the negative reviews I read. As for these needles, what struck me was that there is no such thing as a perfect set - even the expensive Addi set has its fair share of negative reviews. I can see how the needles can come loose from the cord, but you have to knit really tight and turn the needles quite a bit to get them loose. I found that they actually have a very tight connection, but not tight enough that you can't remove them. I am incredibly happy with these needles. For the price and number of needles you get with this set you can't go wrong. If you're worried that this set won't get your money's worth, DO NOT! It's definitely worth the money for hours/days/months of fun!
